Acceptable Use Policy

An Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) is a document that outlines the specific guidelines and rules for the acceptable use of a company's devices, network, systems, and data.

It is intended to protect the organization's assets, prevent misuse and abuse of the network and systems, and minimize the risk of security breaches.

Policies include:

  • the acceptable use of the internet, including prohibited sites
  • prohibited activities, such as hacking and distributing malware
  • the use of unsanctioned applications and personal devices
  • the acceptable use of corporate email
  • and security measures such as using strong passwords
