Policy

In DLP, policies refer to a set of rules and guidelines that are put in place to prevent the unauthorized disclosure or transmission of sensitive or confidential data.

These policies define how the DLP system should monitor, detect, and prevent data loss or leakage. Traditional DLP solutions require granular policies that define what specific actions each set of users may perform with each class of data. Modern DLP solutions can be “policy free.” These work by moving machine learning to each endpoint to classify data in real time as it is created and used and consider the context of users, data, and actions to protect data.
